Hi,

I currently own a Rect-O-Verb 50 Series 2.

I want to move to a head/cab setup - probably a 2x12, but i'm wondering whether to go for the 2x12 Rectifier closed back or 2x12 3/4 back.

Any comments on how the 2x12's would sound compared to my current 1x12 combo? I'm mainly a pop/rock/blues player.

Thanks

Louder, bassier... that's probably about it

I say go for it. I have two 2x12 cabs and love 'em both. They can compete with 4x12s and they're half as heavy, plus I think they look sweet. If you get one, consider getting something to sit it on, so you can angle it upwards a bit to get a bit of a better idea of the tone. That's the only downside with combos and 2x12s, if you're playing standing up, your ankles are getting the sound, not your ears.

I don't know if this will answer the OP's question, but the Rect-O-Verb combo uses a 3/4 back cab, so if you're looking to duplicate that sound, go for the 3/4 back extension cab.

3/4 back will give you that open full sound or the combo and will be less direct/beamy. So if you are playing in basements and small clubs you might prefer 3/4.

Good luck with this... Im sitting on 5 cabs and 6 speakers for 2 empty cabs...

I put C90's into my 2x12 rectifier cab and I like the sound ... deeper mids easier highs
