Recording with your Mesa.

Ok so I'm still fairly new at this, I got a sweet sound card so I'm gettin ready to record with my Mesa Triple Rect. How should I connect it to my computer? I bought it used and reading the manual online is getting me no where here. Any help, hints, tricks, or rouses are welcome!

You want to get an SM57 and a decent mic pre. Run the mic to the pre and the pre into your sound card.

ok im looking at preamps now. what is my best bet im thinking to go M audio. so far its between these 2

i notice the jacks are different, im looking to spend nearly 300 dollars on the preamp but will this mic you show SM57 be good for vocals at all or only amplification would you say?

SM57 is a good all around mic. Check into the Sennheiser e609, it's a great mic for micing up guitars. Doesn't do much else very well, but it beats out the sm57 in terms of guitar sounds. I use both, they're pretty good mics for their price.

There's not a lot in the $300 range that i am aware of, but the "bang-for-the-buck" mic preamp comes in around $150 in the M-audio DMP3, and men who know much more about it than I claim there's nothing that can shame it for <$500.

When I bought mine at Full Compass it cost around $140.

Joe Meek stuff is also highly recommended, and is touted as the poor mans answer to home recording.

FMR comes to mind as well. The FMR RNC (Really Nice Compressor) is another in the "bang-for-the-buck" category that can't be touched in it's price range.

M-audio Tampa is well respected as well, I believe....

Yepper, agreed.
The regurgitatable factoid about the e609 is that it is slightly easier to position... Just throw and go!
