This is for recording engineers .

When I record drums I put snare and bass drum tracks at the center of the mix.
I split my over mics far left and right , left above the last ton and right
above the firt peace of the drum =hihat.
But I notice that the right over mic capture a lot more the snare and hihat
sounds because it is much more near to them.
When Im mixing I hear the tracks of snare and bass drum at the center but the
over mics tracks shows me a snare and hihat more at the right ,obiously because
they are there.
How can I fix it ?
Thanks

Well, A/B is called A/B because of the distance of the microphones (that point in the same direction).

X/Y is another type of stereo recording technique which "simulates" our hearing in a more authentic way than A/B (which usually gets overly defined and unnaturally separated).

Just arrange the microphones in a cross (X) with the membranes in the same direction. The angle between them should be 90 degrees. Otherwise than that, the distance from the signal source is the same.

If I arrange the mics in a cross, how could the membranes are at the same direction ?
They will be pointing at diferent directions !
Could you explain it ?
Thanks for your time and patience

But still the snare will sound louder on the right mic.
If I turn up overhead volume, snare will sound louder than cymbals because snare is in two tracks,in the overheads tracks and in the snare track.
Kick drum I eliminate from the overheads simply cutting down the bass frequencies but snare drum is a problem.
What do you recomend ?

I recommend not having the snare in the middle since it's not natural. Let the overhead decide regardless of where you want the snare in the stereo width. :p

Ok its not a rule but 99.9% of the songs we heard snare, kick drum ,bass and lead vocal are at the center of the stereo.
If you made a mix with the snare drum like you said,on phones the snare drum will sound louder on the left side wich is to my ears strange to hear cause my left ear will be tired sooner than my right ear.
And the mix will sound how can I say that, it will sound like one side is louder than the other on each bang of the snare.

Dude I really apreciate you help
thanks a lot
