Really need some help here

Ok so i have a 2002 triple rec three channel head just got it in shipping from UPS. First off a preamp tube was broken and one of the rectifier tubes plastic post broke but not the prongs seems to work fine though will replace soon. I hooked up the footswitch and the solo light stays lit and the solo knob is constantly active does this mean the footswitch is screwed up the midi cable or the port on my amp. The solo is active when the footswitch is plugged in unless I am bypassing the loop or the footswitch is not plugged in is this bad for the amp? Any help would be awsome because i have read the manuel tried all the combinations and i really hope its not the head don't feel like tracing that issue.

What happens when you plug the footswitch cable in the amp but not the fs-controller ?

when i do that it goes back to normal the solo output is off except for the little bit volume thing all 3 channels seemed to do before 05 that opens the amp up a bit more
