Hello everyone! I have a rack setup, and am experiencing
the worst hum ever! This is what I have in the rack:

Furman PL-plus
Alesis Data Disk
Ground Control GCX switcher(w/ a BB pre in loop 1)
TC Electronic G Major
GC System Mix
Mesa Boogie Triaxis
Mesa Boogie 290

The rack is wired w/ George L cables. Could this be the
problem by any chance?

My pedalboard consists of:

Palmer Triline(ABY)
LR Baggs Para DI
Pedal Power 2
Boss TU-2 Tuner
Dunlop 95Q
Ground Control Pro
2 Ernie Ball Volume pedals

Should I replace all the George L's in my rack?
Are they a bad idea for racks?
I HAVE come across 3 of these cables causing noise.
It takes 14 patch cables to wire this rack up, and
I'm strongly considering ordering $147 in patch
cables from guitarcable.com, but before I do I
would like some opinions, as this is really expensive!
I'm in a real pinch here, I've spent a lot of money
on great gear, I have it hooked up properly, and
it sounds horrible!
I checked the outlet in our room, it IS properly grounded.
Also, would humfrees help any? I would greatly appreciate
any help! :)

Those would certainly help. If they don't they won't hurt.

Oh yeah, don't forget to check things like levels and tubes. It does sound like a ground issue. I would go get a couple cables and try swapping them in. You might find a culprit cable or two.

You can always strip your rig down to a minimalist setup and then slowly add things one at a time to systematically find the problem.

This is the best way :D

Well my rig is wired with george l's and I have no problem what-so ever (however use a cable tester if in doubt), if in doubt as the man said build the rig up from basic to full and look for the hum, talking of which I use humfrees too which removed some issues I had straight off the bat.

It all works a treat and I have a load of stuff knocking around in there!! (take a peak at the post to see just how much! scroll down to see in the rear :D )

Hey guys, thanks for all the advice! I did what was
suggested and built the rack up from basic Pre/Power
amp/cab, and began adding things back in. The problem
arose in the GCX Switcher, so I called Voodoo Lab and
got in touch w/ tech support.
I told them how I had the rig wired, using the "guitar in"
buffer. He told me to bypass that, and plug my guitar
right into the first loop. He said if the hum went away,
then that was the problem, and told me to get the
humfrees for the GCX. Well, he was right, so I'm
ordering the humfrees...
Thanks again so much for the help! Hopefully this
is the beginning of the END of such problems. :)
