Ok, I have a 4x12 and 2x12 Mesa recto cabs. I am wondering what is proper way to hook them both up to the head. They are both 8 ohm cabs, so I have been going from the 4 ohm A into the 4x12 and 4 ohm B into the 2x12. But I read this in the manual on page 14 at the top...

"NOTE: Do not use the SPKR A+B selection when two 8 Ohm cabinets are each connected to two 4 Ohm OUTPUTS of each Speaker Output Bank. A 2 Ohm load puts an exccesive strain on the power tubes causing them to wear unusually fast."

So are they talking about what I am doing, or about something else? Thank you!

Jeff

I have a RK 2x12

*On the back of the cabinet it says 8 Ohms each speaker or 4 Ohms combined*

I Connect...
Speaker A (Closed) to 4 Ohm A on the Head
Speaker B (3/4) to 4 Ohm B on the Head

Am I doing this wrong?
I'm going off of the picture #6 or top left on Page 38 (Wiring Schemes...Amplifier to Speaker Cabinets)

I wouldn't say it's wrong, but you're losing volume doing this since you're using a 4 Ohm output on an 8 Ohm speaker. Try it using the 8-16 ohm outputs and see if your volume doesn't increase.
