Hi, Just discovered this forum! cool...

I've got the above set running into a 4x12 wired up as stereo 16 ohm (2 speakers per side. I love the tone etc but am finding the excessive volume a problem. I'd like to cut the volume in half without sacrificing the tone.
I read that some people use a resistor to totally silence the amp and use the recording outputs on the 20/20. Is it possible to do something similar but still use the existing cab? ie: wire a 16 ohm resistor in parrallel with the cab to give 8 ohm load. Will this reduce my sound level dramatically or does the resistor need to be in series with the speaker to acheive this?

cheers.

The easiest solution is to just turn it down. I have a TA and a 20/20 so I know it can be loud. If you need to have the power amp distorting then you can get a couple of attenuators in between the amp and your cab. The Weber attenuators are pretty inexpensive ($75 for the 50 watter resistor based model) and would solve your volume problem.
