Hi Guys,
i am in the market for a mesa/boogie, ive always wanted one but never bit the bullet and got one, i play heavy/death metal and currently own a marshall tsl-100 which has the sound i like but dies in the *** power-wise after about an hour. ive had the tubes replaced, had capacitors replaced the works and it just doesnt have the balls anymore. i played a mesa rectifier a few years ago and it blew me away but now it comes time to purchase and i dont know which one to get?? i need 3 channels, footswitch, nothing fancy like effects/reverb send/returns etc. i mainly play the distorted channel being in a heavy band, i basically want a powerful amp thats reliable so should i get the dual rectifier/triple/ roadking??? what is the difference, pro's/cons etc. any advise would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I would say go between a 3 channel dual or triple, just depends, the dual will of course be more usuable all around where the triple will be harder to tame at lower volumes. However the triple will have a slightly tighter bottem end with much more headroom.

You really need to go to a Mesa dealer and play, play, play.
Hopefully there is one in your area; you did not say..... If not, try to go see bands that play them and listen carefully.

I know it can be hard to audition amps when there are no dealers in your area. We have Mesa dealers in San Diego, but some other brands can be harder to locate. (We have to go to LA to see most of what's out there).

I will say that it is unlikely that any Mesa amp would be a disappointment. ....They are that good.
But they offer many models and you say you play metal. So Rectifiers, Roadsters, Road kings are all metal capable; even the stiletto and electrodyne, though these 2 are more for "classic" (eg Marshall) type tones. Mesa does have some audio tracks on their site, if you did not catch them already.

I think the research "journey" is half the fun, so enjoy!
and.....
Good luck! :D

There are lots of options for you...Just look at how many variations of the Rectifier have been released since 1992:

2 Channel Dual 100w Revisions C,D,E,F,G
2 Channel Triple 150w
2 Channel Racktifier 100w
Tremoverb 100w
Rectoverb 100w
Single Rectifier 50w
Maverick
3 Channel Dual
3 Channel Triple
Roadking Versions 1 and 2
Roadster

They all have a different seasoning of the "rectifier" sound. Some are tighter, others looser, some clearer, some more fizzy, some have lots of options, others are stripped down. Essentially, the newer it is, the more options it will have.

The Mark series amps are also very capable metal amps. The new V has 3 good channels and you'll never need an overdrive pedal.

get a used 3 channel duel rectifier off ebay. I got one that was 4 months old with brand new valves fitted and less than half price...4 month old!!!

that way if you dont liie it theres a good chance you can get your money back and try something else

its how i usually try all my guitar gear that im not sure about, its an extended free test of just about anything you want to try as you can sell it without the huge loss of buying new
