Hi, I just bought an isp gstring and I am having problems running it through the effects loop. When the loop is at 100% and the master volume is turned up past 12 oclock the amp starts to clip. I also get an extremely loud squealing/feedback noise. I've already replaced all of my tubes, cleaned the sockets etc. The noise is only present when I have the effects loop in use. Otherwise I can crank the amp up with no problems. The only dials that seem to create this problem are the master volume and the gain. Any help would be appreciated since this is such a great pedal.

Welcome to The Board.

What amp are we talking about?

If I assume that "loop to 100%" means the FX Loop MIX control on a parallel loop then where do you have the SEND level?

Are you certain that it is not the G-String that is clipping from an excessive loop send level?

Dom

It is a single rectifier solo head series 2. By 100% i mean fully mixed in. And yea its not just the g string it did the same thing w my cry baby just now.

The FX Loop is at line level, not instrument level, and will easily clip pedals if too much signal is sent through the loop. The channel masters and loop send will determine how hot the signal is. Where is your FX Loop send level? Also, what channel and mode are you having problems with?

Dom

1) with enough volume, everything starts to feedback :)

2) have you tried lowering the channel masters and adjusting the total output ?

I'm having problems with both chanels. In order for the pedal to be effective the loop is set to 100%. If i turn the master volume down accordingly it seems to solve the problem. Once the master goes past 12 i start having problems. I guess the solution is not to turn that up too high

I had a similar squealing problem with my .50 Caliber when I used the FX loop with my Line 6 M13. I tried a BOSS 7 band eq at the end of the signal going into the amp's FX return. By sliding the level below the midway (zero) point it would help but was just not as clear in tonal response. Then when ever I had to readjust the amp I had to play with the EQ pedal as well. What has been the best "fix" to date was when I put in a Tung-Sol 12AX7 in V2. I am not techie so someone else might be able to explain what V2 does in my 50 Cal and what tube controls the similar circuit in your amp. Or if I just got lucky and it has nothing to do with your issue ...
