'ello!

So. Just bought a DC-5. Loving it. The previous owner said there were some nice preamp tubes in the amp. Had to look. Knowing less than I would want to about vacuum tube electronics, I added all the info I could get from the markings on the tubes. Maybe you could give me some points on what they are and in what position you would have them in. I would want the amp to open up a bit more, a bit more chime in the highs. Plus some extra warmth in the mids. Here is what I got:

All 12ax7
v1 Philips ECG (JAN 12ax7wa / 4147 USA / 8726 ACW)
v2 Fender (80-35-185-5 / LL(?)IGN / 013341 7025
v3 Philips ECG (JAN 12ax7wa / 34 67 /8726 ACW)
v4 Sovtek (??? Russia ??)
v5 RCA (70 25 USA / ???
v6 RCA (AET / 7025 USA / C8 25 ???)

Output tubes: Electro Harmonix 6L6 (Russian) which I would like to change to JJ's (or something else?)

Thank you for your time and insight :)

Kind regards
Karl

Found this on an old thread. (Quoted from user "John Phillips").

On the DC series, the tubes are:

V1 - first gain stages for both channels
V2 - second and third gain stages for the lead channel only
V3 - fourth gain stage for the lead channel and FX loop return stage
V4 - second and third gain stages for clean channel
V5 - reverb drive and recovery
V6 - phase inverter

(V1 is closest to the input jack.)

Hope this helps.
