Preamp Tube Help Please!

Hi,
Can any one tell me if the preamp tubes in my Mk V need to be balanced? I am changeing the stock for Harma tubes, looking at the tube chart in the manual it states V1A & V1B and I didnt know if that is to do with circuit or the tube in some way. Help!

You'll be fine - a standard 12AX7 is really like two tubes in one bottle.

No, none of the preamp tubes need to be balanced. About the only place that may benifit from a balanced tube is the Driver (V7), but it cetainly isn't needed.

Check with Watford Valves which manufacturer produced the batch they are sending you. Some are / were rebranded JJs which can sound a little dark and middy. If that's what you need, go with them

I popped some into my LSC and found them too dark. I put EH's in V1 & V2 which fixed the sound balance nicely
