That's interesting. My blue stripe MkIII is 561100, so the variation certainly fits the series. But that hole looks like a post-production job. The only reason a hole in the cap is to port the taps, so I have no idea why it's on this one. Sorry I can't be more help.

If the price is right, then nearly any mod can be unmodded...if you're adventurous enough. Bring the price down to match your confidence.

Quick note - The 561100 power transformer (PT) is fine and it is a Mesa. We have worked on some Mark III's that came stock with this PT.
