My 5:50 is working great. However, whenever I use the burn channel there is a abnormal hum whenever the guitar volume is on, even a tiny bit. If I turn the guitar volume down all the way, there is no extra sound. The amp does hiss a bit on that channel, which isn't too bad, but the hum is loud enough to be distracting and similar to a single coil hum. I am using humbuckers and I don't seem to get this sound out of the other channels or out of a zoom effects pedal that I use to play with headphones. So...it doesn't seem to be the guitar (although I'm not a tech so you never know).
I ended up checking the pre-amp tubes for fun. Whenever the amp is in standby, and as well as fully on, the filament in V3 seems to be lit up alot more than the other pre-amp tubes. It isn't burning red or anything nasty, but all the other pre-amp tubes are hardly lit at all. That one tube (V3) is a Chinese 12ax7, whereas all the other pre-amp tubes are Russian. The Russians have two filaments at the bottom (opposite end than the pins) and the Chinese seems to have one. I was wondering if anyone knows whether that it normal or that perhaps that Chinese tube is causing problems?
Thanks alot!
