I opted for the last one :D I own both at the moment, two totally different beasts but are both different enough to not replace the other.

On a side note, what would be awesome is an amp with that huge recto rythm tone, and Mark series leads

+1. Although I don't own a Mark V, I can see myself picking one up down the road. My Quad pre suits me just fine at the moment :D Nothing is greater than running a Recto and Mark Amp together....mmmmmmmm

I will say that Extreme mode in Triode has some Recto like qualities (sag like feel in the low end). I recorded this clip in that exact setting and got a really big rhythm tone: http://www.netmusicians.org/files/75-This%20is%20Absolution%20%28rough%29.mp3

I would love to answer that poll (and maybe i could if it was just recto vs mark not V) but i guess i cant cause i still havent gotten it and a lot of others havent or just got it and their opinion will evolve. I guess topics/polls like that will get more interesting in the futur

Gee, I wonder if your poll results might be skewed seeing as how you posted it in the MARK V section of the forum... Anyone biased here?

Just a thought though...

The Mark V is every Mark Amp I ever wanted. The RoadKing is every good Recto I ever wanted. Nuff Said.

Well said. I have an RK 2 and the Mark V...I find myself still plugging into the RK for most things, especially when recording, it just sounds so big. The brit mode on channel 2 can handle all the low and medium gain stuff I can throw at it. I still give a nod to the cleans on the RK also. High gain, hmmmm, Mark vs. Recto? Its is a win/win situation. Some days I am very undecided about which I like better, sometimes that just comes down to which guitar I am using and what I am playing.

Somebody send me $4800 (plus %9.25 for sales tax) and I will personally compare the two amplifiers and report back.

Oops, better throw in another $1000 for the 4x12 Recto Cab as well - jbw
