I have read from many of you guys that had great results with retuning a Jp-2C with NOS tubes and getting a much better more 3D more harmonic 2c+ sound out of it.
I mangen to get 2 Tungsram and 4 RFT Preamp tubes but now I am looking to hunt down a Quad of the sought after Sylvania 415.
I have managed to find a matched Quad of Phillips 7581A. Some of you say the Mesa STR 415 was specced after the Phillips 7581A, some say its the other way round, some say the STR387 = the 7581A. Some say the STR 415 is 30W and the Phillips is 35W some say both are rated at 35w.
Now what is true? and more importantly: Will the be a good choice instead of the STR415 for my JP?
I don't know it I want more headroom as I like the thickness of power tube saturation.
