Petrucci just updated his site and the gear section includes his exact settings for his two Mark IVs and his Lonestar. There's a ton of other stuff running through them, but it could be interesting for those looking for the Petrucci sound.

Mark IV #1:

Pics are a little wide to post right in here.

Kind of pointless... look how much god **** rack gear he has...

Cool to see though.

Wow that is crazy how it's all hooked up. Gain 8 and Drive 10 for the Lead sound, that's some intense saturation. I don't imagine the Wylde OD and Tubescreamer get used much.

Maybe I just missed it talked about before but apparently he's using EL-34's with the 6L6's. Cool.

Yeah, but notice how the treble is also a bit low (6.5). Most people (me included) would run the treble at 7.5-8 with lead gain and drive at 7-8. I should try this reverse method.

And yes, I'm a bit surprised about the EL34 as well. I don't think this has ever been discussed before.

I knew that he ran all 6l6's in his IIC+'s, but I didn't know that he ran el34's in his IV's. I bet everyone that owns a Mark IV is going to switch to el34's now.

I'll point you in the direction of a thread I made over at the JP forum. Should fuel some interesting discussion here!

Well if anyone reads that discussion you'll see that I was skeptical about the use of the pedals for boost. That was before I was enlightened on what they actually do. I was playing with my band tonight and I had settings of 8 and 8 for distortion and a treble setting of 7. That is HUGE heeps of gain, just for fun I was messing around with the Constant Motion intro so I adjusted to the heavy V on EQ and man... it sounded just like his tone from the album. I'm using a Steve Morse with the stock Dimarzios to.

I'm not going to say boost pedals are this or that cause I don't use them but Random Hero pointed out to me that the feel was different and maybe not so much the gain structure. I think though that it is my personal preference to do without, I find it comfortable yet challenging to play the amp straight out of the pickup.

I thought the second Mark IV was just a back-up in case the first Mark IV went down? If that's not the case what's he using for a back-up head?

He probably has another copy of the entire set up in the back in case any of the three go down. Rich and famous, eh?
