Ok .
So for example , If you had a 50 watt rms pentode wired amp vs. the same wattage triode amp . Same preamp , power tubes , guitar and settings :
They distort differently .The differing harmonics on certain notes and chords will give the amps a " feel" that is dependent upon your playing style .
Also when playing clean , the attack and decay of the notes seems to be more "bell-like " when playing a triode amp . Once you push it into distortion land , all kinds of cool stuff happens ; the low tones will distort harder than the higher with a (what seem's to me ) smoother character .
Triode : cherry blossom's swirling away in a smooth breeze .
Pentode : you can count the apple's falling .
When you start beating a pentode like a rental car :
ducks fall from the sky .
Parent's take their children off the streets .
And so forth .
Which is a very cool thing . Totally different feel , like ,
Godzilla wearing guitar boots .
I love 'em both . Use the correct tool for the job at hand .
