All hail simulclass!

I've taken some pics of the Mesa simulclass OTs to look at their sizes and footprints. I've placed them in order of chunkiness and size :D

Code:
                 weight amps used in
                 --------- -----------------------------
1. 562003 2.80kg MarkIV-A MarkIII
2. 562004R-1 2.45kg MarkIV-B
3. T100-152019 2.40kg MarkIIB MarkIIC/C+ MarkIII
The 562003 is the undisputed king, I bet it's pretty much exactly the same size and weight of the IIC+ output transformer. It can handle more power and has more clean headroom. I definetly hear the difference between the 562004 and 562003 at loud volumes. The highs are smoother and more smooth+blurry and the lows are more asskicking. Especially combined with a X101 export tranny 8) The X101 is as large as some 200W power trannys in other makes of amp.

Meet the family

It get's more confusing. Some later MarkIV-A have the 562004R-1. It's the same with the Mark III I believe.

Note:

I once spoke with Mike B. on the phone about these transformers...

562004 is = 562003.....BUT! 562004R is NOT= 562003.

That is correct, sir :D

Mine is a 562003.
Mine is a '90 Mark IVA too.

mine is 562004 (MarkIV A made in 1990)

So we can start to assume that the 562003 to 562004 transition started in 1990, until proven wrong.

wow.. I have the 562004 without anything after it..so that means it's a 562003...there you go..

so if my amp is a 6/92 and its a 562004 and AART's is a 6/92 and it's a 562004 R-OT then i have one of the last 562004's ever made..

And I one of the first 562004R-1's!

I didn't realize that I have two 562003s!! (thanks to my 295  since I never use it, why not use it for parts), my question is how do I safely remove them w/o destroying them and can I put one in my 95' Mark IVB (that currently has a 562004R-1) and one in my Mark IIC Coliseum (Mike B. is in the process of modding the head)that is if I can even put them in both amps? Does the 562003 really make that much difference in tone? Stupid question but I want to know if it's really worth switching them out and getting the simul mod for my Mark IIC Coli with an orig 562003. I use my Strategy 400 (not sure what tranny is in the 400) more than the 295 in my studio rig and so I never really A/B'd them... and I use the Triaxis/2:90 combo for live use (gets a lot more use than the studio rig) but thats a whole other beast...

Hi
Im new to this Forum and need some help.

I have a MKIIc+ with an OT #562004, recently it smoked way passed dead.
Talk to some tech guy and told me that he can make it new again if only I can get him the readings on the taps that go out to the tubes.

Anyway I did order a new OT from Mesa with the #562003 does not hurts since its not as expensive as I tought.

Can someone help me get the readings on that burnt OT.

Thanks

jvk I believe for the last one in the list you accidentally cited the 60/100 OT#.
Pretty sure you meant "SC-152019B" vs T100-152019

Hi George,

Long time no speak :) hope you're doing well.

The thread was titled "OT Comparison - 562003 vs. 562004 vs. 100W" so I guess that's why I included the 100w OT.

Now that I've had all of them at one point or another, I can conclude that all of the Boogie Mark series (and 2:95) simul OTs are electrically identical, even though they are different in their physical footprint. They all dissipate the same power at given frequencies, and have the same impedance.

Thanks,

Jonny
