Hi guys,

I'm building a rig and here is my set up so far...

Mesa Boogie Dual rectifier
Behringer BTR2000
Furman PQ3
Furman PL-Plus
TC G Major
Morley Pro Serie Wah

From guitar -> Wah -> Rack Tuner -> Furman PQ3
I run the G Major in the effect loop.

The furman is making a lot of noise. I ran the rig without the furman and is was dead quiet. What kind of noise gate should I get to quiet down the noise? Should I run it in the effect loop or right before my input (after the wah, rack, furman). I have a noise gate in the G Major but I believe it only works with the effect loop since I still get the hum noise but just a little bit less louder.

Also, I'd like to have a rack unit!

Thank you!

Go with the ISP Decimator G-String. Don't even look at other gates or noise suppressors. If you get anything else besides the ISP stuff, you will be sorry. Just my 2 cents.

can this noise gate be run in front of the amp right before the input to cut down the furman PQ3

Yes, and you can also have it run through your fxloop at the same time.

Are you running the furman PQ3 into the front of the head? The reason I ask is because I thoughi it was designed to be in the affects loop seeing a line level signal. I could be wrong but, you might want to verify.

I use Planet Waves cables, which in my experience are a real bargain and similar to the popular George L's and Mogamis. I have heard horror stories concerning any series of Monster cables, but I personally have no experience.

I specifically use the Planet Waves Custom Pro series cables for my instrument and speaker cables. Great, great investment, and they are lifetime guaranteed (most higher end cables are), which means you can exchange them when they break, no matter what the reasoning.

If you already are knowledgeable in this area of discussion, please ignore the redundancy. I am merely trying to help you in your quest for silence. I was there once too!

Fluff is right, the Decimator G String is bad a$$! I can also vouch for this because it's the best investment along side my OD808 in my pedal rig. Running this baby through the effects loop totally hushes the preamp buzz and being able to also run it out front makes things that much better. Well worth the money IMO.

If I remove the furman (yes I run it before the amp but my tone come from it) all the noise is gone. I just bought an ISP Technologies Decimator Pro Rack. Wish me luck guys!

Now I how do i set it up...Do I put one channel right before the amp after my wah wah and my furman and tuner? and is it the same with the effect loop...right after my tc g major

Guitar - wah - rack tuner - furman - Decimator - Mesa (1 channel)

Mesa - G major - decimator - mesa

??

I run my decimator in the loop before the gmajor. This is so the tail end of your effects won't get cut off by the gate. A guy at ISP suggested I do it that way and it works great. The gmajor shouldn't create a lot of noise anyway.

If I would run my furman in the effect loop...how would I connect everything?

g major, furman pq3 and Decimator

and will it be better to run the tune in the effect loop to?

I'm lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would run the Furman then Decimator then G major and just use the tuner in the Gmajor. It's always on anyway and it works really well.
