Newbie w/ Heartbreaker head AND questions

Hi everybody! I have a Heartbreaker head and have to say... I really really like it but it lacks a little in bright cleans. The Heartbreaker is known for Fender-like cleans, that's why I bought it. Besides that, it's my favorite amp(very versatile). It still has the stock white 6L6 power tubes, JJ 5AR4 rectifier(10yo?), EHX 12AX7 preamp tubes(6mo). I mainly play rock to metalcore
Any suggestions? Mods? :?: :?:

I have a HB head which I also love.
First, try EL-34's You don't lose much of the overall tone, but it is a little brighter and tighter.

More importantly, call or email Monsta-Tone.... his name is Andy. [email protected] He is the HB mod guru. He owns one, plays one and mods them. Several of us here on the Board enjoy the fruits of his efforts. He has a clean channel mod, reverb mod, but also a JCM900 or Soldano mod for the Lust channel, that turns it into a monster.

Best thing you can do for a HB is to let Andy work on it.

Shipping is a little expensive to Hawaii, but not as much as you would think for just the chassis and tubes.
The website is a little (about a year, sorry) out of date!

I have a great JCM-800 mod that Brent has on his amp.
I also have an even better High-Gain JCM mod that basically takes the Lust channel into Satriani and EVH territory.
I have this mod on my personal amp along with the better cleans, better reverb and footswitchable mid boost for Lust channel.

For immediate gratification on the Love channel if you're using it for cleans, try an Electro-Harmonix or NOS 12AY7 in V1.
