New to the forum and I just bought my first piece of Boogie gear. :D

It's a Studio Pre.

It sounds great but the EQ sliders (is that the right term?) are dirty/scratchy and I would like to clean them out. I took the top off but I don’t see where I can drop contact cleaner in there.

Any suggestions? I thought about dropping in some contact cleaner into the slider from the front side but one of my friends said that is a bad idea.

Thanks in advance for the help.

DeoxIT F5 FaderLube is what you want to use, if you can get some.

Do not use a contact cleaner that is for metal to metal (input jacks).

After cleaning the sliders out, use this....http://www.ebay.com/itm/DeoxIT-Fader-Grease-Caig-/121153690671?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item1c35529c2f.

MichaelC4,

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

However, I am a little confused. From what I understand, a fader is the same as a (circular) potentiometer (aka a "pot" aka "knob") it is just that the fader is in a different format.

I have a small can of Deoxit D5 so why can't I use that as opposed to Deoxit Fader?

Also, my initial question was where to spray? When it comes to a potentiometer, there are a few holes to spray into but on the fader that is in my Mesa Studio Pre, I don't see anywhere to spray into aside from the front.

Thanks in advance for the help.

That is only for metal to metal contact (jacks and tube sockets).
Not for potentiometers and faders (yes, they are pretty much the same thing, just different format).

I don't see why you can't spray cleaner (F5) in from the front of the EQ sliders. I do.

After cleaning them, they felt scratchy.
So, I ordered the Fader Grease, but, before it arrived and after working the sliders a few times it went back to being smooth.
I still think they need the grease.

That's what this site is about.
If I didn't chime in, someone else would have.
As a matter of fact, someone else might have better suggestions or know more than I do.
I've only cleaned out my .50 Caliber+ and Studio Preamp once, even though they didn't need it.
