New Recto day.

1992, rev F Dual Recto. Sounds awesome. It's been a few years since I last owned a Recto, and this one sounds better than I remember. I'm pretty happy.

I just got a revision F rack mount rectifier. I agree, it sounds awesome. It has the MKIII transformer in it as well.

That certainly looks like it's seen many gigs!

That it has... and you can't even see the worst of it. Most of the damage is on the side and bottom. I'm considering a re-tolex as the tolex is starting to come apart and peel. I'm thinking about doing it in orange so it matches my cabs, but I'm also thinking that may be a bit on the lame side. Consider me undecided at this point.

Nice amp......

When i got my 2 channel DR it came with Mesa SPAX7As throughout the preamp like yours.....from my research those tubes were designed for V1 only. If you really want to open that amp up you might want to look into replacing them with some 12AX7s. i personnaly perfer a mix of Mesa Chinese and JJ 12AX7s

Nah man... its not lame. Get it in Orange, then you'll have heaps of lame-o's coming up to you going "man... how do you get that sound out of an Orange amp?

Plus owning an Orange is a lot cooler than owning a Mesa. I sometimes wish I didn't love the Mesa sound so much, I kinda get ashamed of saying I play Mesa because of the typical metal crowds I'd get lumped into. The only downside to Orange is that when a lot of people see Orange they think "indie" but i'd rather be Indie that a "mesa player"

When I see an Orange, I tend to think doom metal/stoner rock. Unless it's one of the little Orange combos, or the picture includes some wimpy looking hipster type... then I think indie.

Actually so do I, but from my experience, not many people think Stoner Rock or Doom Metal are even genres. hahah

There's something so... satisfying... about the idea that someone would buy such a beautiful sounding amp just to throw a ******* big muff in it's way. that's why i love Stoner Rock

I prefer the Fuzz Face. Big Muff is too scooped for me.

That Electric Amp in my signature is basically an OR120 with more gain.... you can get it to sound like a heavy duty fuzz box on it's own if you dial it in right....

That is a ****** sweet sounding amp. Not sure if that tone is worth the money it would take to get one of those, not for me anyway. I've been craving that kind of sound lately though.. I think that maybe its because i've spent the last 2 months in a different state with only my guitar and my Orange Microcrush, but I think I'd rather throw my Russian Muff infront of one of my amps instead of chasing down something new...

Besides, I'm looking for a Gibson GA30-RVH Head and 4x12 Cab (technically they're 2x12 and 2x10). The sound of those things is sublime. ***** on the Lonestar's cleans IMO.

The amp and that tone are kind of a niche market thing... it's not exactly commercial, nor is it for everyone. It's probably the most brutal sounding amp I've ever rocked out on... it actually makes the Dual Recto seem kinda tame. Totally different feel however... the Electric isn't so good for fast/trashy rhythm work.

Maybe I'll retolex it in green, then get a matching green Stiletto 4x12.... just to toss the whole green amp thing back in the face of the stoner community....

Nope, though we did have a marijuana political party for awhile.

Anyway... just playing around with the EQ. Recorded late at night, so the MV is as low as it'll go.

On a side note, anyone who thinks a Recto is boomy and fizzy needs to get away from the everything at noon mentality...
