Just got mine in.
USPS must've dropped it off a speeding truck cuz the shell was cracked on one side, and the rackrails ripped out of the wood on the other side.
It's a simul EQ blue stripe, havn't plugged it in yet, waiting for the EV-12S to arrive.

Can you guys help me out with figuring out the reverb?
The seller said it should have had reverb and the tank was removed.
When I look in the back, I see the reverb pot spot is plugged with a round cap, and the letters were spray painted over, and not completely.

And what else should I know about this amp? :)

edit: forgot to ask, I'm going to china for 2 months, will this amp work properly with a 220v>110v transformer with a load limit of 200w?

How many pre-amp tubes are there? You need five for a reverb amp. Also, you need two RCA connectors on the bottom of the chassis to connect the reverb tank.
How many controls on the front panel? If the answer is seven, and there is no Reverb knob on the front panel, you don't have a reverb-equipped amp.
I think you need a transformer that goes the other way, i.e., 110 ---> 220. :D

Thanks, my transformer goes both ways.

I looked, 7 knobs in front, no rev knob, guess I don't have it then.
Oh well. Thanks for the info!

Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the reverb circuitry.
There are only 4 preamp tube sockets and no RCA jacks.
My next question is, should I ask the seller for a small refund? How much value difference does this make?
He's been really pleasant to deal with so Im not sure if I should.

honestly you're not missing a whole lot by not having the reverb. it sounds more like the guy who sold you the amp didn't understand that it never actually had reverb. unless you really wanna chisel him for $40 or something I wouldn't bother.

what you should be worrying about is getting a refund from USPS for the headshell damage. What you might want to do is contact the seller, tell him about the reverb thing and tell him that's cool with you as long as he files a claim with USPS and follows up hard on them... send him pics of the damage... forum user gts makes really nice headshells and can quote you for a new one.

edit: that's weird, I have actually found USPS to be the *safest* shipping method in the US.

Yeah I don't really wanna bother with asking him for small change, but I would be slightly upset if he didn't insure the amp.
I asked him if he fully insured it, he said no, then I asked him how much he insured it for, and I'm waiting to hear back on that, so I'm a little worried..
I already filed a claim with USPS, they're supposed to be investigating now.

Man, that sucks about the damage. Think of how far that amp has gone since it was built all the way up to 2009, only to be damaged. I bought my Mark III combo new back in '88 and the only trip it's made was in my car from my parent's house to my new house back in '94. I hope everything works out and you get some great tones out of it. :)

Thanks man, it really sucks, I've wanted a mark 3 for half a year now, and now I can finally afford one and I get it broken!
The worst part is that my speaker hasn't arrived yet so I can't even test it to see if it works. :(
Thankfully the seller contacted USPS and things are in motion.
