Hello all,
I am the proud owner of an LSS. I had previously purchased the LSC from GC for $1200. After having the opportunity to finally play an RK II for about 2 days and 8 hours at a GC in N. Attleboro MA, I was convinced that it did indeed have the beautiful cleans from the LSC....So I returned the LSC and ordered the RK II (I wanted the additional versatility offered in one amp).
Purchased an LSS as I needed a low power solution for many small gigs and studio sessions. Great, great sounding amp. However, if I had to have the LSC or the LSS, I would choose the LSC as I refer the boldness of the 6L6s. Ok enough with the background info.....
So, today I took the LSS for a GIG at my church (seats about 500+) 99% full attendance...
Setup the LSS, sound check, all good. However, when we started to play, all of a sudden the sound cut out completely. I had setup channel 1 for 15 watts and channel 2 for 5 watts (as everything was Mic'd and had plenty of volume during sound checks.
I was mortified.....I checked everything and nothing -- no sound. The it occurred to me to try the 30 watt setting and voila!!! sound again....
However, now I was too loud and had to reset everything.
BTW, once I had my settings in place, the LSS rocked, sweet spanky cleans...the lead was not bad (but not as liquid as it was during sound check) -- the higher wattage caused me to change things on the fly and most likely was not the best setting.
So my question to LSS owners out there, what the @@%#% happened? My guess is the rectifier tube went....
Am I correct, or is it a sign of a bigger problem?
I'm about to take this thing back to GC and have them order me up one directly from the factory if it turns out to be a bigger problem.,
