I recently replaced my old 50/50 for a brand new 2:90.
Very shortly (first 10 minutes) after I received, plugged the 2:90 and played thorough it, a problem appeared which was eventually fixed by Boogie factory.
Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I think that the 2:90 (that returned from the factory AFTER being fixed) has now less power, even less than the old 50/50 and no, I'm not running it in half mode.
With the old 50/50 I used to run the amp volume @ 25% +/- and the preamp @ 2-3 (home use) and it was load!
Now with the 2:90 (@ full power) I run it @ 30% +/- and the preamp @ around 2-3 and its "ok"" volume.
Yesterday I run the 2:90 @ 85% and the preamp @ 3 on clean crystal sound and I could sit and play 2 meters from the cabs and not getting my skin pilled from my face.
What do you think guys ? Am I just paranoid or my 2:90 has actualy less W now?

I can safely say that if you feel your 2:90 isn't loud enough there is definitely something wrong with it. These things are seriously loud!

What bothers me is that I managed to run it on 85%, sit 2m from it and stay alive !
It wasn’t like that with the old 50/50.
Of course I plaid a clean sound but still, I could sit next to the cabs
I don’t understand way, after all it's brand new and was repaired @ boogie factory so I guess they run it hard before shipping it back.

can someone tell if there is a way to check this ?
Sure i can take it to the boogie dealer to be checked but only the thought of puling that beast to the shop….ahhh man…
Maybe there is a way to measure the DB with a mic and a free software of a kind ?

The power amp only amplifies the signal it is given. If you really want to know if it can produce 90W/channel, turn it all the way up and the preamp all the way up. Or better, drive the 2:90 with an ipod turned all the way up and turn up the volume controls on the 2:90. It is just as likely that your preamp output has dropped as that the 2:90 is weak.

It is also possible (or likely) that you lost a preamp tube along the way. Try replacing one at a time with a good one to see if it gets louder.
