hey man-- I'm no help on the midi...

...but if the power cable is a standard 2-or 3-prong job, male or female or rack-plug-style, just go to home depot and buy whatever plugs and cables you like, all you will need to put them together is a screwdriver. I put new plugs on all my "keeper" gear, because I cut the cables down to 24" so I don't have loops of 5' power cables hanging out of my rack case.

that is typical of a noise gate. from what i understand, they set a max/min level and cut out everything outside those parameters, where as a noise suppressor leaves your tone/sustain intact and takes out certain frequencies
