Need Help Hooking up mismatched Cabs to Dual Rec.

Hey i was wondering how i would go about hooking my Dual Rec. to my Orange 2x12 cab with 4 ohm and my mesa 4x12 cab with 8 ohms and run them at the same time?

A four ohm cab in parallel with an eight ohm cab is about 2.67 ohms-not something I would really feel comfortable doing. In series it would be six ohms, which should be safe with either the four ohm or eight ohm tap on the amplifier. However, there will also be a difference in volume between the two cabs.

If it were 8ohm and 16ohm cabs you'd just run out the 4ohm and 8ohm from amp.
The mismatch does change the tone's "sharpness" and punch. Sounds better matched even IMO.

In this case you shouldn't do it since it's under 4ohm total load.

Re-wire the 4 ohm cab to 16 ohms.
8 and 16 paralleled will get you 5.33 ohms.

My mistake guys the orange is 16 ohms.
