sure dude, a good overdriven tone becomes from the amp, but nowadays I could find a more amps with a good saturate tone than good clean channels, for this reason I prefer an amp with a good clean, even if the saturate channel ísn´t as well as I want, but I could get a good overdrive tone with the helps of some pedals

How about the Road King?? The Brit channel on my RK is pretty convincing on AC/DC-ish type of stuff.... www.guitartest.moonfruit.com has a few clips of it. Some with it dry and some with a Tubescreamer in front of it.

Although I hate to say this here, your thread title describes the DSL50. I am not a fan of the amp but it gets good reviews from those that like them. I have enough Marshall in my JMP MkII MV and my JCM800 2210. If I need anymore I can always plug into my Ampeg VL. As far as cleans I get those from my Mark IV along with anything that I feel like I am missing with the others.

On another note, a Vox might be the ticket.

while on the subject has anybody tried the matamp mainly the 1224
that got good reviews in guitarist mag :?:

If money is not an issue the Bogner XTC will get you there, the clean is not the greatest, but doesnt suck by any means. With a sparkle drive or chorus you could be in heaven.

The distorted tones are to die for, from plexi, to 800's to a great hot rodded marshall with more gain then you will ever need but you can tame it to your level with hurting the amp.
