Need advice on buying a used Single or Dual Rec..

I have a few question about the Single and Dual Rec. I am actively looking right now... Are some dates better than others? What are common issues? What are some question that should be asked...What should I avoid?

Also I have a custom 4x12 cab that I made and is either 1-16 ohm mono or 2-8 Ohm stereo. Can I use the single 16 Ohm connection or both 8 Ohm. Looking at the back of the Single Rec. it has a single 8 Ohm and 2- 4 Ohm? I am assuming that I can use the 2-8 Ohm by connecting them into the 2-4Ohm?
