hey all. just got a new port city 1x12 os on shogun's recommendation (and his and other youtube vids).

unfortunately fedex was lame and didn't drop it off till about 8:30 so i didn't get to crank it. preliminary testing was nonetheless fruitful and i'm very satisfied! i'm going to need to mess with it more, but for now, with an evm12l, this thing is awesome! they did a custom grille w/ large weave cane (i asked for small, but i'm actually pretty satisfied with the look on this), gold piping at my request, and they even apparently upgraded the emblem to be gold instead of chrome.

here's some pics to wet your whistle:

not the best angle of christine...

oh and i love this handle! great idea, convenient, and doesn't get in the way of mesa reverb tanks!

in case you're wondering, the head is a custom cab done by miyako designs in socal--highly recommend! his work is very affordable for nice hardwood and his specialty is the racing stripe deal (this is a walnut/maple cab). i converted from a mesa combo shell and i'm not going back (unless i need to do warranty work). it's currently loaded with all mesa el34's & 12ax7's, though that will likely change in the near future. more info to come!

Thats quite an eye popping combination you got there!! Thos Port Citys are nice cabs, shame theyre not over here in the uk, ah well. I like your head conversion too, very nifty, and what is that guitar?

Sorry for the questions, just curious!

Wow...

I'm liking the wicker look more and more...and the wood!!!
Where in socal is miyako, didn't see it on their website?

the guitar is custom, based off a soloist shape, but trimmed a bit on the lower horn as i drew it, custom neck inlays, etc. here's the site of her:

(christine is my fiancee's middle name)

and sted, i welcome the questions. proud to own her :D

i told him i wanted the wicker. i sent him to the countryseat.com:
http://catalog.countryseat.com/prewovencane.aspx

they have the mesa-type patterns for very cheap if you want to do your own grilles. but they won't be yellowed. i guess if you spray or dye it a little darker yellow, it comes out fine.

don't know exactly where in socal. he said la in one of our emails. but i don't know exactly (and he might have just said that thinking i don't know where anything is in socal). you can email him. he's got a quick turnaround, but i had to wait longer due to his personal reasons. and this was about christmas time, so things were busy and i was out of town anyway. it all worked out fine.

i can't remember where i put the pics up of all the gut shots of the mark v, but i used that to give him and idea of the cab sizing and it fit perfectly. too perfectly, in fact. it took some wiggling to get it in there. and i somehow scratched the top doing that, but from 4 ft away you couldn't see it, so i guess it's alright.

thanks for the positive comments!

oh my lord that looks sick!!!!!!!

now i know I must get the OS 112 as well... and the 412... and .... ahhhhh GAS!!!!!!!

glad you are enjoying it! do you find it sounds very big for a 112 ? (i know my 212 sounds massive), and much more 'easy on the ears?'

I've never tried an EV, but i've only heard great things about them!

so, after some testing last night, huge is right! i know the combo can get pretty loud, but the os was so loud it was shaking the head (oops) to the point where the reverb pan would sing on certain notes.

ok, so maybe i should isolate them a bit...but this is a great result and i couldn't be happier (except with 2x12 from pc also!). i will see how $$ looks in the next few months, but for now, the 1x12 is more than enough to meet my needs.
