It is finally NASCAR season. You know, Dannica is hot and all that, but did we need updates every 30 seconds on her going from 30th place to 31st, to 32nd. really? really....

Will JJ see #5? Or will #5 on the track keep him from it. My wife is a Gordon fan but seems to be crossing over to the dark side.... My 48 team.... As long as Jimmy finishes ahead of crybaby Hamlin or Hollywood Carl Edwards I am ok with it. Is Edwards preparing for his announcer career already since he went winless last year?

How about that comment at the Nascar awards banquet about Junior..... The MC said .... "Junior is the Paris Hilton of NASCAR, he is famous for being famous" Junior better get some wins soon now that he is with Hendrick (good equipment) or that name tag may stick....

Now to get some wings and beverage for the green flag. Maybe they will play Fuel before the race again. 8)

Super stoked that Jr. came in 2nd! Kinda wish he would've won, but, history tends to show that the person that wins the 500 doesn't really contend for the championship, and that's what Jr. needs more than a win.......proud of McMurray though, he's a nice guy. Glad to see I'm not the only Nascar fan on here!

I'm sure he made Daddy proud. I have an autographed number 8 car, the dark red Menards car with John Mansville on the hood. One of the last races he ran in the 8.

I really thought there were more racing fans that played Boogies aside of us and James Hetfield. 8) He is a hard core race fan, saw one of his hot rod pickups in a performance truck mag.

I used to be a huge NASCAR fan, my father worked on some drivers jets, but the new car and the schedule full of D shaped ovals has lost me.

I also drive - www.cullenracing.com

I totally agree, all he's done to this point is sail along on his daddy's coat-tail. Even though he was driving for one of the best funded teams out there he's done absolutely nothing to impress me. With Hendrick he will definately have to produce.
I will say though that now that Nascar is changing back to the old rules which allows for a lot more banging, bumping, & pushing things should get more interesting. They are also increasing the size on the restricter plates to increase speed and several races into the season they're going back to the old air foils and getting rid of those hideous wings on the back of the cars. None of the drivers liked those anyway. It seems Nascar is finally listening to fans & drivers alike. Now if Jeff Gordon would get #5 it would be a very good year.

Why don't we see some amp and guitar manufacturers sponsor a car?
If they do, I have not seen it, but a big 'ol "MESA" next to the "48" would look good, IMO! :D

Yea I'm partial to Jimmy, but hey, I live in the same town! (kinda....) :p

ironically as I was viewing this thread, right below your post was an add to "Win Jimmy's Silverado" from Chevy.com..thought that was funny. I do agree that it would be sick to have an amp company sponsor a car. Or even a guitar company. Closest thing to that right now is Legano's occasional Guitar Hero GameStop car with the Gibby game controllers on it, and the Gibson guitar that you get as the trophy in the Nationwide Series for winning at Nashville. I wish I were friends with Carl Edwards...every time he wins that race, he gives the guitar away.....it's only a one-of-a-kind gibby les paul painted by Sam Bass...always beautiful looking.

I can't see mesa EVER associating themselves with the #48. Seriously, that kind of driver does speak mesa to me.... ever. I can see line6 or maybe johnson amplification, but never Mesa... they are too heavy for princess jimmy. He probably couldn't even lift a mesa boogie amp, not even the studio .22+.

In fact, I'd even go so far as saying that if Mesa ever did sponsor the #48 car, they would loose a lot of sales in the next few years until the debacle was long forgotten.

I know that, being a #48 fanboy makes you think that everyone wants to be involved with the #48, but it's simply not true. MOST people realize that he's a goldenspoonuptheassluckycheatinghomosexualwimplysoreloosingnogoodfornascaroranyothersport personality.

I wonder why they don't have <rant>hee hee</rant> tags.

Your never going to see music companies take on a full sponsorship contract because it's just to expensive. Only the really big corporations can afford the kind of money it costs to have their name plastered all over a Sprint Cup car. Most of them don't advertise anywhere but magazines because they just don't have it in their budgets. In fact with the current financial situation many music companies are being consumed by the larger conglomerates and are no longer seperate entities.
