Now I'm just waiting to get a head...but still not decided if Dual Rectifier, Bogner Uberschall or Diezel Herbert

Cheers,

Emanuele

I heard a friend of mine complaining that with the Uber,it was hard to get the clean and lead channels balanced together for a good even sound. Plus, unless your buying one used, the Bogner is a hellofa lot more money than the D.R. & ditto on the Herbert.
Good luck, let us know what you find and/or do.

I've played the uberschall, and own a dual recto. Though the uberschall is a great head, I don't think it is at all worth it over the recto. I love the recto tone, and it is perfect for me. No other head can do what it does. It's very well built and gives out a monster tone!

You're on a Boogie board, more than likely you're gonna get more ya's for the recto  , I know it gets my vote too.... But I wouldn't mind playing the others for a weekend to get a good feel for the amps.

I know, I know...being on the Boogie Board is likely to give me an influenced answer. But I'm here with a reason: I have two Recto 2x12...I'm entitled to write here :D eheh
I've tried the Dual Recto and I loved it. On other boards ppl talk not that good about it, though. The best I've heard up to now is the Diezel because of it's complete switching between channels and midi capabilities. We'll see. I'd like to try each of them, but it's not that easy.

Nocturno, I'm in the same boat as you. Although, I have a Peavey JSX, I'm looking for a second head. I've considered the Uber and a Herbert but while I've never played them myself, I'm not really in love with the clips I've heard. Secondly, when I consider the price of the Herbert I keep thinking I could buy a new Roadster, Powerball and Legacy! Ain't no way that's not a better way to go! So many toys!

I've bolded the most important part.

I've tried tons of amps and to my ears the DR was my favorite. It looks like you really liked it too. There will ALWAYS be people on message boards or in reviews that bash a product. Mesa seems to be a big target for people like that.. most of it comes from the fact that every ****** band and their mothers use Mesa in their videos on MTV and create horrible 4 chord nu-metal. It gets this 'XXXXXXTREME!!!!' image because of that sort of thing.

The truth is that it has so many more tones on tap than the 'chuggachugga' that people bash it for. Some of my favorite rock groups use the DR and not one of them sounds similar.. (Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Tool, Alice In Chains, John Petrucci, etc).

You could make a perfect amplier and someone would say it sucks their tone and is the worst product ever made, just take it with a grain of salt. I've tried not to make this biased but since we're on the BB you'll just have to put up with it :)

Since you said you loved it, grab it. I've played too many guitars and amps to know that when something speaks to you, GRAB IT, because you'll be kicking yourself forever if you don't.

</soapbox> :)

If you are planning on using those very high-end processors in the loop of your new amp, cross the Recto off of your list. The other two lend themselves to using multiple items in the loop immeasureably better.

Don't forget to rule out the Soldano SLO-100. I've been a Mesa player since '88 and just bought an SLO a couple weeks ago (kept all my boogies of course). I run it through Mesa 2x12 recto cabs and it is a different tone than my Mark IV's, but holy crap!!! What a great tone!
