I'm a tonal purist, and I much prefer Rectos with the FX Loop bypassed and just using the channel volumes. I think it feels and reacts much better that way. I just run a handful of pedals up front and that's it.

double check your actions on the fx loop mod--below is the Boogie recommended method--
it is easier to look from the back of the chassis--looking at the fx loop pot remove the right wire and tape it off--then solder the middle and the left wire together on the center lug of the pot.

I did this last night to my newly acquired single recto head because of phasing issues with my G major now it sounds killer

Did you have the effects loop mod done before you did this? Was this an ''add on" to the serial mod you already had done? And, is the mod for your Rectoverb the same for the Dual Recto?

i did the loop mod as well and i don´t have any problems with it.
my GM inputrange is set to "pro" and it works perfect.
but:
few weeks ago i tried a parallel fx-setup with an extra rane linemixer and as soon as i turned on the GM, i lost lowend and got a thin sound. didn´t lost overall level but it sounded thin. this did not happen with my digitech IPS33B.
i check everything, loop send on the RG-16, loop returns in the Rane mixer....couldn´t find any issue, but with the GM turned on it still sounded thin.

so i used the internal buffer of the RG-16 and set this in front of the GM input and the problem was gone!

if you have any kind of buffer amp, try this at your rig. send the loop send signal of the amp into a buffer amp and from there to the GM input, maybe this helps you solving your issues.

+1000! Except for the few pedals part...I run none!

+1. I don't consider myself much of a purist but this is the way I prefer things.

It's also easier to match channel volumes this way IMO.
