Hi guys!

I just bought a used Mark V and it's sound ok but I have a problem with loudness. The problem is that I have to turn master level to 2 o'clock and output to 2 o'clock in 90w mode to hear some real sound that become uneasy to my ears. It may be looks like I have problems with my ears but other people at our rehearsal place and our sound engineer think the same. Other amplifiers sound much louder then my Mark V. Cabinet is 120W and resistance 8Ohm and speaker cable is ok. And I checked your OFFICIAL MARK V TONE SETTINGS THREAD and find out that no one set their master and output level more then 12 o'clock. So I wonder if you tell me what could it be? What should I check first?

I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks)

P.S. Sorry for my english

You may need new power tubes.

Thank you! By the way, if tubes running low should there be any crackling sounds or noise?

Try switching the effects loop to hard bypass and see if there's a change. That's the first ting I would check, and it's much easier than checking the tubes.

If you're experiencing a crackling noise, that can indeed be a bad tube. It can also be a bad cable or a dirty jack somewhere as well.

There isn't any noice, I'll try to use hard bypass! Thank you!

try the hard bypass

I jammed out with a drummer with the volume set to 10 o'clock and it was plenty loud!

Check the Effects loop level control on the back, it should be at 12 O'clock.
Also, make sure you are using Pentode mode on the back switch.

I've played plenty of gigs with mine, and 11 O'clock on master and channel volume is massively loud.
