I have a chance to buy real Mullards. I own a Roadster head. Is it worth the price to have these tubes? What tonal qualities could I expect if I buy them?
What version of Mullard 12AX7? There were about six or seven distinct versions, all of which have different character. Long-plate? Short-plate? Box-plate? Those distinctions will be a start at identifying which version.
What position do you want to use them in? What do you have there now? What do you want from the change?
well, if you can get them for a screaming deal, why not? You can always sell them to someone else if they don't float yer boat. You also get an idea how they sound for your own ears in your amp(s). That is a good thing. Peace.
