Just wanted to get some ideas from those of you who use pedal boards regarding how you mount the pedals to the board. I'm not into putting velcro on my pedals, so I'm looking for some other ideas...
thanks guys

I use the links from a bicycle chain and bolt 'em down. My board is solid as a rock!

If your not kidding. Please I need to see a photo :D
I'm not kidding. Here's the full board. I generally use two links in opposite corners of each pedal, all four for the wah:

Here's a closeup of one pedal:

Not to knock using bike chain links, sweet idea, but what's the problem with velcro? On most pedals, I unscrew the feet, re-attach through a rectangular piece of 1/8" plexiglass, then put the velcro on the plexi. If you have Boss pedals, you can just attach the velcro directly to the pedal without damage.

I used velcro for years. On some pedals, the adhesive in the velcro tape had reactions with the finish on some pedals, and the tape would pop off. On others, the pedals would slide around after a while.

I decided to go the bike chain way last year because I wanted a more solid attachment. Once bolted down, nothing moves, even after repeated stompings. When I play out, I don't have to worry about somebody snatching a pedal off my board and trying for a quick getaway.

I like it!
I like the commitment to the pedal placement.
Kick a pedal unusually hard and that thing is not moving might be considered overkill but I like it. Pedal doesn’t move neither do patch cords. Very cool!

Those bike chains are awesome man! What a great idea! I agree that although velcro works, it does tend to loose its sticky after a while, both on the hook/loop side and the sticker side that attaches to the pedal. It's especially frustrating when you pull up the pedal and the velcro stays on the board when having to replace a battery......grrrr.

That's so true...I haven't had a Pedalboard in years (using rack stuff until recently,) Now I'm going to being thinking of that between sets

Head over to Bike Nashbar to order the tool you need to remove the links:

Once the links are removed, you will have two kinds - ones that are totally flat, and ones that have beveled holes. You'll use both. Clean everthing with a degreaser, and get some wood screws from the hardware store. Some of the pedal screws may be too short for this method, so take the shorties to the hardware store too and ask for longer replacements in that screw size.

I melt the bottom metal part of my pedals .
It's like soldering stuff
BTW I hate pedals

Good idea there - bike chain/mounty p. I thought velcro was the go but nwo I have another option.
BTW, I hate racks - unless they are on chicks

Ciao ...

I have all my pedals industrial strength velcro'd to a sliding shelf in my rack and control them with a Voodoo Labs Ground Control Pro and GCX. This way the velcro doesn't wear out and they're not going to get stolen by some snatch and grab loser.

I really like the simplicity of Zakk's board, but I'm also fully aware that it's probably professionally hardwired in. Not sure how he's got them secured though.
