Sonically, I think it's 'dirtier', perhaps more of an analog sound. I know that's a term people use a lot, but it seems appropriate. The loop seemed to have a sense of sterility to it, or maybe it was just my mind making that up. I think that the Drive control on the pedal gives a broader array of 'color' that you can get using this unit.
Functionally, using the tap tempo in the Loop didn't make much sense to me. This was especially true with the spillover feature of the unit which would get overridden as soon as you click off the Loop.
I like to use these units in a more hands-on way than most. That pushed me to just keep them as part of the chain in my effects up front.
Plus, I think these units were really designed to be 'up-front' style effects as opposed to loop units (since their used with synths and even made to be chained together with each other in a modular way).
