Hey all, I have a Road King version 1 that I like most everything about, but am not crazy about the clean channel- sounds a little thin to me. I've never played a RK v.2, but my friend has a Lonestar, and I really love the clean channel and reverb on that amp. I know the v.2 is supposed to incorporate the Lonestar features in its channel 1, so I was wondering if anyone knew whether it was possible to mod the v.1 channel 1 to v.2 specs, and if so, how involved it might be (I've done a number of pretty straightforward mods on my old Carvin MTS, but I realize that that is a much simpler beast!).

thanks...

Also, I thought that for a while, Mesa would do those mods at the factory (for a fee, I assume), but they discontinued that service. Does that ring a bell with anyone?

I was told by mesa (when the RKII first came out) that you couldn't mod a RKI to the same clean as a RKII. Sorry to give you the bad news but, it might still be worth a call to mesa.
