Just got my IV combo.
Mainual recomend that you first turn on full power then change it to tweed.
The switch is going over off mode, in that case.

I am confused...

Correct way is?

When its off just switch it to "Tweed", then, after 20 seconds switch the standby switch to "On" and you are ready to rock......

After hours of good rock'n'roll, switch it to "Standby" and then "off".

Stand by is not the issue. Manual daid that it's better for tubes to turn the amp on full power then switch it to tweed, if you want.

I have two MK IV manuals (an early typewriter version and the latest pdf version) and I don't see that in either one. Is that in the "tweed power" section of your manual? I've never heard of that.

I don't see that in mine either.

The only place where the manual instructs you to switch to full power is on page 2 - in the "let's get aquainted with your amp" section.

The TWEED setting switch lowers the voltage at the secondary windings of the PWR transformer by inserting an additional winding in serie with the primary winding. The resultant lowering is circa 20%. IMHO, there is no restrictions to switch from TWEED to NORMAL setting when the amp is fully on in any mode.

A+!

I've been using tweed power on my mark IV almost exclusively since getting it. I almost never turn it on the full power setting. There's nothing in the current manual about switching it to full power before engaging tweed power.

It's the same with me. I use 'tweed power' all the time. I honestly cannot remember the last time I used 'full power'.
