MK-lll ?Can I unplug my reverb and use it for a F/X loop?

I like to turn my F/X on and off and was thinking....hummm
If I unplug my my reverb tank and put adapters on the ends could I use it like a on/off F/X loop with the reverb knob as a F/X vol.

Has anyone ever tried this OR could I hurt the amp by doing it?

No not a good idea. Even if there was not an impedance and signal level mismatch the verb driver would likely not sound very good for this purpose anyway. Also it would be a somewhat of a paralell loop unlike the the existing series FX loop.
