The 12"speaker seems to be the staple for guitar amplification, but why not try out a different option when it comes to the micro amps. The Nomad had a 4x10 combo, are there alternatives available?

I have been searching for alternatives to a 4x12 cab. Considering the small scale heads that are available, why lug around a 100lbs 4x12 cab? Can it be scaled down to an 4x10 or 4x8? It would not have the same effect of course, however there are many bass cabinets that use 10 or 8 inch cones (many have crossover circuits for driving a horn if so equipped). Many of the bass cabs have the same or similar frequency range as the typical 12" guitar speaker.
