Recently being getting into these two albums and I'm just wondering does anyone know what type of amps they used on these albums I heard they starting using Dual and Triple Rectifiers around this era. If anyone knows of any good tones for load era post em up cheers.

Im pretty sure james used the triaxis on load and reload. he still used marshal 1960 with vintage 30`s on load

Shouldn't this thread be in Metallica Fanboys section... ahmmm, sorry , Metallica Sounds section?

Metallica was THE reason why I picked up guitar...and they are also an indirect reason why I can now feed/clothe my kids from the music I make using that wonderful instrument.

I recently became a Metallica convert. Seeing them live was the ticket. They have great cd's no doubt, but the concert is screaming in your face energy. I am working my way back into a cover band for classic rock but I will always love the sellouts with short haircuts... Seeing as Lars says he loves it when people call them sellouts! 8) Not that Metallica made Mesa Boogie who they are or anything like that, but it was a huge marketing windfall for Mesa to be associated with M. I wonder how many $ came to Mesa from that partnership?

My DC-5 is because of MEtallica and Dream Theater, its the reason i started searching for a boogie and trying them until i found this one

I can personally vouch for 1 triaxis, 1 simul-290, and 1 Mark IV.

Add my 2 Channel Triple, Rectoverb combo, Triaxis/2:90, Mark IV, Tremoverb, Roadster, Recto Standard cab, Recto Traditional cab, and Halfback 4x12 to the $$$ Mesa have reaped from me due in part to one James Hetfield. Roland can also thank him for the JC120 i've owned... twice :D

Metallica has had nothing to do with a single one of my gear purchases. Woohoo!!!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Fletch Dragge from Pennywise for me wanting my first Recto.

Chalk up a Triple Recto and 2 Recto standard 4x12's because of that partnership. Ever since I picked up a guitar, and saw the pics of the huge Mesa stacks on stage with Metallica, I made it a goal to one day have one of my own. Now i'm just a 'mesaholic' for no reason besides good tone I guess....once I realized that all of those heads on stage were fake, and that their real rigs didn't really involve as many Rectifiers as one would think.  (they do use a lot of Boogie stuff in the studio, James uses TriAxis and Simul-2:90's and kirk still uses two racktifiers live...so it's all good)

BTW I really like the tone on the two albums mentioned in the title of this thread....

Wouldn't it be cool if they had to include credits on albums or concerts like at the end of a movie? "This lead tone was brought to you by Mesa Boogie's Mark V, Eventide, Dunlop, and Furman."

well they used to list all of their gear in the album liners... just not the exact equipment for each song.

i partially ordered the MK V because of metalica (and dream theater) but mostly cause i enjoy the sound. I remember when i got into the guitar and saw Mesa/Boogie listed at the end of and justice for all, and said i want one.... but i had no idea what they were, since i was young and new to the guitar and new fender and marshall
