Hey guys,

I'm trying to figure out the best way to setup my Mesa Tremoverb. I have the combo, with a 2x12 Mesa Dual Rec. cab. For my band, I need to be able to relatively easily shift between clean tones, lead tones, and serious chug. With the whole channel cloning thing, there are a myriad of options...so I'm curious to ask how you guys have set yours up. It's also important that it work steadily my pedalboard, which includes (left to right):

MXR Carbon Copy, EQ, ISP Decimator, Ibanez TS9, Xotic Custom Shop BB Preamp, MXR phase 90, Crybaby 535Q, Polytune.

I was thinking of leaving the channel cloning option turned off, and using the Orange mode for my clean tone (and lead tones would come from slamming on the BB or the TS9); and using the Red mode exclusively for the chug.

Any suggestions?

That's pretty much how I do it. Orange channel set to Clean (and kept strictly clean), with a couple of pedals for alternative crunch/low-gain lead sounds, Red channel set to Blues (usually) for heavy rhythm with one of the pedals for high-gain lead. I usually use a Boss DF-2 Distortion-Feedbacker (mostly on the Orange channel) and a Boss SD-1 (mostly on the Red channel) - the TS is very close in sound to the SD-1.

I would also probably put the EQ and the delay in the loop, if you can.

Set your orange ch to clean. Red ch to modern gain. dont go overboard with the gain. Leave room for a boost/OD. Make sure you set your mids above 1:00 (modern gain is a tad scoopy). The vintage gain is killer but can be on the muddy side with some settings and it also doesnt clean up with a guitar volume as well as the modern gain.

Set your BB up for some crunch on your clean and your TS9 as a boost on the red ch.

I used to clone the Orange. For a while actually. Now I just run the Orange clean and the Red overdriven (not chug, though). I use an OCD for a slightly OD sound. I use a BYOC Muff clone on the clean channel (doesn't like the Red channel) for my fuzz tones.
