Let me know if it´s even close :D

You're closest on the last video...for the Sandman tone, it's as simple as setting the Graphic EQ up correctly. Do some google searches for "montyjay.com" to see pics of how they had their EQ's during that tour. For the older tunes, do a search for "flemming rasmussen gearslutz metallica" or something to that effect to get the exact studio settings for the C+'s

MOP was very nice. When did you get that IIc+ ? Hard to find in Skandinavia.

Thanks Retu! About a month ago. Yeah it is very hard to find. I found my IIC+ via ebay and it was a steal :D

They all sound great but TBA is tricky of course. I've been twisting knobs for hours on my Mark III for that tone and it is an incredible tone. I'm no expert but what humble advice I can give is get a GEQ pedal, or even better a Parametric. I have a cheap 7 band GEQ and it helps quite a bit. Everybody thinks "scooped" but listen to the isolated guitar tracks on YouTube...there are a lot of mids in that tone. Some of that is just the layering but don't be afraid to use that middle slider, I've found that finding the right combo of the 750 hz slider on the Mesa GEQ and the 800 slider on my Behringer GEQ can get you close. I'm still experimenting with my set up but using the combo of the amp GEQ and my GEQ pedal is getting me **** close. It seems like I can get close with the mids, high mids, and highs, but that low end is just a beast. Sorry not trying to hijack your thread but I'm always looking for tips on TBA tone

middle slider down, it's neighbors up. and the outside sliders halfway.

Monty Jay is a great site and you can't argue with actual pics but people have to realize those are live settings. And James had so much going on EQ-wise the GEQ sliders are not going to give you what they were giving him. The settings for the TBA tour live rig aren't going to give you what you hear on the album.

Thanks guys :) I think I found my tweaked metallica tone (hope so) that will satisfy me enough 8)

The low end is Jason. On Vulgar Display of Power, Rex was told to double the guitar axactly so there was no distinction between the bass and guitar. It was just a dead on recording, and that's how they got it. The guitar tone was kinda thin with out Rex's bass in the mix.
Same with the Black Album.

Cool. How much EQ'ing went into that?

I used MXR-M108 on EQ and also cubase EQ to make that sound so there is something on it to make that sound :)
