I took this out of my Mesa MKIVA combo - it sounds great - is it a rare speaker? What are the numbers on the cone mean? Does it tell date and model ? Is it worth money? Only had the combo for less than a year. Thanks for any info

That is an EVM-12L -- semi-common Mesa speaker that can take a pounding. You can still buy them today. Not rare, just kind of expensive.

79195 is cone model code. 412 might be a date code. I am not sure if that cone is original, as the size of the characters is different than others I have seen from the 70's and 80s. Those speakers are worth about $250.00.

Yea that was as my concern about the cone - the numbers look different then others on the internet- so possible recone.

Try taking an impedance reading... If I'm not mistaken, the 412 means a4 ohm 12 inch speaker. I may be wrong (and I have been wrong before) the boogies all were 812 coded.

You need to find images of the cone codes of other examples to determine if it is original cone or recone.

Are you sure this was the original speaker for the cab?

What was the build date on the chassis?
