Mesa Dual Recto 3 channel preamp question

Hey guys I;m a novice when It comes to choosing new tubes.

So I have a question to ask you guys about when it comes to choosing new preamp tubes.

If you use 6l6 Tubes in your amp does that restrict you using other preamp tubes.

I am currently using Mesa 12AX7 preamps in my amp.

So does that mean if I want to change my current preamp tubes for new ones, I would have to buy preamp tubes that say 12AX7 on them?

Many tubes are interchangeable. You can replace a 12AX7 with many other types, including other brands, or 12AT7, 7025, CV4004, ECC83, etc. Each has a characteristic noise level, gain, tone, etc. The power tubes have no effect whatsoever on which preamp tubes you can use, and many people have multiple kinds of preamp tubes in their amps.
