have never tried a single recto before but know i´ve got a great offer on one. i´m only wondering if it can do metal stuff and is 50watt enough in a band situation. my friend got a 5150 that i´ve got to beat ha ha ah. i play with 2 recto cabs. Is the recto verb tighter than the dual recto???

50 watts is plenty in a band situation, I use a 5 watt fender champion 600 at practice through a 1x12 open back EV and it blows down walls. Wattage isn't as big a factor in percieved volume as speakers IMO. The RoV can definitely do metal, I wouldn't call it tighter than a DR, but it pushes into that territory faster than a DR.

50 watts is enough power to tour in stadiums.

If that amp isnt loud enough in your band then you are playing stupid loud....and being stupid is never a good thing.

It will cut through nicely and blend well at the same time with a 5150. Make sure you spend some time dialing it in with both amps going at band volume. A good starting point with all recto's is noon for everything, maybe a little higher on the mids and a little lower on the bass depending on the guitar, and presence based on what cab you use.

ok thanks but will i cut through ,my band mate plays a 5150???

Cutting through depends on how you guys EQ your amps.

mine cuts through with ease. Also, very versatile amp actually. All about the eq.

yes i hope so. we pláy very loud so it is a must to cut through. I´m afraid that 50w is not enough

50 watts will definitely be plenty loud for you. 100 watts isn't twice as loud as 50. I played in a band in college with a guy who had a Peavey Triple X and it's 120 watts and he never out powered me.

You have no worries about the amp not being loud enough though!

Just EQ your amp nicely and you will cut through. Try to have your eq set to have a sound that compliments the other amp but doesn't copy it or they will just blend into the same sound

Like in my band I have usually eq myself alittle bassier and the other guitarist adds more mids to his sound. You can hear both of us well because we have two different sounds

That is true. I am new to Mesa, but not new to Amps. 100 watts is not 100watts is not 100watts. Just because an amp is rated at a particular wattage does not mean they are all the same. A Mesa 100W head is not the same as a Marshall 100W head is not the same as Peavey 100W head.

I think that Peavey basically admitted that their heads are not as loud as they claim. Look at the 5150III. The head is rated at 100W, yet the matching cab has 4 G12EVH speakers that are rated at 20W, so the cab is only 80W. Why in the world would you sell an 80W cab with a 100W head?

In addition to differing wattage, speaker choice has a big part to being loud. The sensitivity of the speaker and ohms make a difference to how loud you can be.
