Mesa Boogie Mark II V1 Preamp-Tube Slot?

Does anyone know what functions that V1, is exactly running on Mesa Boogie Mark II amplifiers? Because what i have read is that its some kind of input stage just for clean channel and not lead channel, if that is case then would it have any affect on lead channel tone?

V1a is at the amp input which also covers bass shift function.
V1b is just after the tone stack (treble, bass Middle pots) and also handles gain for Volume 1.
This does effect the lead channel, in lead mode the lead circuit is inserted in between V1b and V2b via Ldrs 2 & 3

Okey nice to know i was thinking same that it will affect on lead channel thanks for that info.
