Hello everyone.

It is the first time I come to this forum, and I need your help, if possible.
I have a problem in a Mesa Boogie Formula Pre. The relay that switches the channels when I turn on the pre, makes a noise. It seems that toggles between on and off rapidly, until the power source reaches the 12 volts. I experimented with a 9 volt battery connected directly and it works well. After some time on, the problem almost disappears.
I am waiting for your answers. Thank you.

Cheers

There aren't many Formula users around, and even less who understand the internal workings of it. I think you might be hoping for a bit much with your question. Why don't you call Mesa?

What are using to switch channels? I had HUGE problems with my Formula when I tried to use it with the switching jacks at the back. I later found that all the jacks need to be switched from isolated switches or relays. If any of the jack 'grounds' are common'd up, you'll get all sorts of strange things happening.

Here I even clicked the "contact us" from the mesa website.
Now you can click this can call or email.

I'm using footswich, but the problem happens in either case.

I had already visited the page, but I can´t see the email.

By the way if someone has layouts or photos from inside, would also be a good help.
Thank you.

Well call them or write them. Even if it is international they WILL call you back if no the
lines are busy. Try it. Their email is for website improvements ect, the will not guarantee
a reply. Call or write today.

Mesa doesn't have an email contact. They take phone calls. Every single time I have called re: a question I have ALWAYS been called back fairly quickly. Make sure you leave clear contact info on the message and repeat your phone number twice. They are very friendly and VERY good.

I have had some issues similar to what you are experiencing with mesa products and switchers. Come to find out it was my switcher not the unit!

Try different switchers.

p.s. I get my Formula tomorrow. :)

Not true! The email address is on the contact page - it's not actually printed on the page but there is an American flag icon with an email link in it. The address is in that. The address is: [email protected]

What's more, they will give very helpful advice on technical matters as long as they are not too in depth. They respond very quickly too. They have lists of service centers worldwide who can fix your problems - even the ones not on the usual Mesa lists. Good company to deal with.

Hi,

Thanks for the address. I've sent them an email, and now I'm waiting for a response.
I hope to get lucky.
Thank you also for your replays.

Did you ever solve this problem, or get a reply from Mesa? My Formula has a similar problem, when the original footswitch is plugged in. Without the footswitch (using the front panel buttons) there is no problem.

regards
Svein
