i just replaced the tubes in my mesa maverick 1x12.
el84 - electroharmonix
5ar4 - j/j
12ax7 - electroharmonix
the power tubes are labelled with the "bias point number" 28.
is this out of the range for this amp?
what IS the range for this amp?
i was under the impression that this was a cathode biased amp. am i wrong?
when i turn the amp on, the tubes glow yellow, almost orange and very bright. (but not "cherry red" as i've seen bad bias described)
i switched from mesa tubes because i've heard of the reliability and good sound of the electroharmonix and j/j.
the sound itself is a nice dirty purr.
another question (sorry so many) i've had this problem where the lead channel bleeds into the clean channel (even before with mesa tubes) still does it unless i turn the gain on the lead channel off.

help!!!

thanks a million. i hope to contribute somehow to this board...i love that amp...

Mavericks are definately my favourite Boogie! You have the same tube setup as me; EH pres and JJ power. You are correct the amp is cathode biased and your power tubes are fine as they are. I switched from the stock mesa's to the JJ's and boy what a change. Nice and dark but with a sparkly top end and more headroom.
